Ionic compounds

Hi Friends

Good Morning!!!

Let us learn about "Ionic compounds"

Ionic compounds are those compound in which there is formation of an ionic bond. Formation of ionic bond is occured due to transfer of electrons between two mutually opposite characteristics elements. Best example of ionic compound is Sodium chloride (NaCl)

Introduction to ionic compounds

In the formation of compound sodium chloride, the '3s' electron of the Na atom is transferred to the 3p of cl atom. The Na+, cl- ions that results have all the electrons paired up and therefore are stable. Ionic bonds are present between the ions. Many compounds like MgF2, Na2O Caesium Chloride, etc., has ionic bond.

Properties of Ionic Compounds

* Solubility

* Electrical conductivity

* Rate of reactions

* Isomerism

I hope the above explanation was useful. Keep reading and leave your comments.
